The count down to our travels begins

every momentT – minus 13 days folks and since my last post two months ago A LOT has happened… The kids are lapping up the summer holidays (having officially exited the tradtional education system), I quit my corporate job and Sat has been busy working and simultaneously getting systems in place so that he can work remotely.

Yay thats progress but let me tell you something – this travelling malarkey is not for the faint-hearted. The lists are endless and the packing is relentless – not to mention the under-current stress. Seriously, if you saw the amount of stuff we’d acquired over our five years in this house, you’d be amazed, it’s epic. Why!? Why do we have so much stuff? That has to be lesson one… Buy less stuff. Okay, I admit, I have a soft spot for nice things and nice clothes but if I’m honest, I probably didn’t need to buy 80% of the items I off-loaded to charity. Buy less stuff… It’s true what they say, ‘you can never have too much of what you don’t need’…

Being on the road will force us to live minimally, more ‘lightly’, less wastefully. This is something I’m looking forward to I think and I it speaks to a deeper calling too… I’m not as kind to the planet as I could be and I want to use this time to get myself and the family more eco aware.
